Assador 29
Introduction
The making of the new Assador 29 websiteAssador 29 is a well-known restaurant specializing in meats from around the world. Despite always being full, they had no website, which meant no way to reach people who didn't already know them or give potential customers a reason to book a table.
The brief was to make something beautiful but honest. Assador 29 is not a fine dining restaurant, it's a place about flavor and good food, and the website had to reflect that without looking like something it isn't.
What we did
About the DesignThe design leans into the grillhouse feel: dark tones, bold typography, and textures that reference stone and dark wood. The goal was to capture the warmth of a real steakhouse without making it look like a fine dining brochure.
The world map section is a good example of this approach. It's not a generic design element but a direct reference to the large stainless steel map on the restaurant wall, where each mark traces the origin of a meat on the menu. That kind of detail is what makes a website feel like it was made for the client rather than just assembled.

The restaurant's stainless steel world map installation (top), which directly inspired the website's map section (bottom).
Development
The site was built with Astro, a framework we chose for its speed and focus on performance. The result is a site that looks polished but stays lightweight and easy to maintain.
The structure is fixed but flexible: a set of purpose-built modules (text and image sections, event highlights, testimonials, menu carousels, workshops) that cover everything the restaurant needs. This kept development efficient while giving the client a solution that actually fits their business.
The site is also available in both Portuguese and English, for local regulars and international visitors alike.
We added animations and transitions throughout to bring the site to life without affecting load times. The result is a fast, dynamic experience across all devices.
Conclusion
A Website as Good as the FoodThe result is a website that feels like a natural extension of the restaurant. For a brand that has always let the food speak for itself, it now has an online presence that does the same.
